Global Rules let you set assessment-wide preferences so new condition assessments follow your team's standard approach by default.
You can use rules to guide how Inspectr handles things like prioritization, cost assumptions, and assessment preferences across future analyses.
How to Add Rules
Add rules in plain language, one per line. Be specific about what you want Inspectr to do differently.
Prioritize life safety items above all else
Use 20-year useful life for commercial RTUs instead of the standard 15
Always recommend replacement over repair when equipment is past 80% of useful life
Flag any finding over $25,000 for executive review
Use conservative cost estimates — we prefer to be over budget than under
Example: Before and After
Here's how a rule changes Inspectr's behavior:
Without rule
A 12-year-old RTU in fair condition might get a "monitor and plan for replacement in 3-5 years" recommendation.
With rule: "Always recommend replacement over repair when equipment is past 80% of useful life"
The same RTU (80% through its 15-year life) gets flagged for "replace within 12 months" with a capital plan line item.
When Rules Apply
Rules are applied automatically to new condition assessments after they are saved.
You can add, edit, or remove rules at any time. Changes apply going forward and do not update assessments you already completed.
